White Paper
Listening without judgment in order to understand the problem of race in America
Reading stories is one of the best ways to develop empathy. It allows you to get inside another person’s head, see how they respond to situations, and what they were thinking and feeling.
We started listening to the participants in our cross-demographic and cross-geographic Navigating to a New Normal study about their experiences with racism and prejudice. While all 14 of our people had stories to tell of racism, we have focused Chapter 5: Black Lives Matter on the stories of Gail and Dajon. Separated in age by two generations, their experiences are sadly all too similar as systemic racism continues. Their stories are powerful, gripping, and intense.
