Would you get a Covid-19 vaccine?

“Would you get a vaccine?’ is a bit of a loaded questions these days.

As part of our Navigating to a New Normal longitudinal study, we asked participants if they would go to an elective doctor’s visit and get a vaccine.

Their answers came down to a question of trust. Trust at a local level is generally high because people can see what’s going on (e.g. seeing the waiting room in a doctor’s office being cleaned), whereas trust at a national level is low because they can’t see what’s going on (e.g. who made this vaccine?). Take a moment to listen to their answers …

Would you get a vaccine?

Some participants plan to take a “wait and see” approach to the vaccine. They want to see its efficacy. However, many feel the vaccine is fast-becoming politicized. Has it been developed safely? Properly? Is it being rushed? These were all unanswered questions people had.

Would you go to an elective doctor visit?

Participants deliberated about the question of a doctor visit, however most said yes. Maintaining their health is paramount.

Implications for your business:

The challenge for businesses is to create trust by removing uncertainties. Give the facts wherever you have them and show your work. For example, what kind of cleaner do you use? How often do you use it? How do you apply it? How is it packaged? How is distributed? Who touches it before it gets to the consumer? Tell people what you do every day for them so that they feel welcome and safe.

Their personal care is in your hands and their personal safety is still their primary concern.
